Scoring of waves based on;

1.  Intent to Ride – scoring of wave begins when a surfer who shows obvious “intent to ride” makes any deliberate maneuver into or on a wave

2.  Wave selection (bigger is better)

3.  Length of ride (white water does not score as high as open face)

4.  Surfing of the wave (big hits & toes over)

5.  Use of your paddle while surfing (for speed, stalling, angle change or with flare)

6.  Controlled Finish (points awarded for exiting your wave in a controlled fashion ie. Not falling off).
