Rainbow Sandals is proud to support the Centra Health Foundation, which develops and directs resources to support Centra Health, a not-for-profit healthcare system serving more than 500,000 people across central Virginia.
Meet one of those warriors—this inspiring woman was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She just completed her 4th round of chemotherapy, with 12 more to go, and more treatment to follow. Despite the physical toll, she continues showing up to her demanding job—even after hours in the treatment chair. A dedicated mother of two, she first worried about losing her beautiful blond hair, but now wears her bald head with pride, knowing her strength makes a greater statement than hair ever could. She’s in the fight—and she’s determined to win.
Helping lift spirits along the way is April, a 7-year-old Golden Retriever with a full-time job of her own. As a certified therapy dog, April volunteers at UVA Hospital, UVA Children’s Hospital, Centra Cancer Center, and even visits the air traffic control center coordinating medical helicopter flights.
Her mission? To bring comfort, calm, and a little joy to anyone in need—patients, nurses, doctors, and caregivers alike. Whether it’s a 3-hour chemo session or a high-stress ICU shift, April shows up with sweet eyes, a gentle paw, and yes she wears her pearl necklaces every day.
Because sometimes, hope has four legs and a wagging tail. 🐾💖
