In today’s session, we covered how to properly respond when we encounter distressed marine mammals—especially sea lions and seals suffering from Domoic Acid toxicity, which has been surging this season. Our guards learned how to recognize signs like disorientation, head weaving (“stargazing”), and lethargy, and the importance of never performing interventions on the beach. Instead, always observe from a safe distance and call the @cawildlife .

In the past few weeks, our guards have helped California Wildlife with sea lion transports and sheltering injured seabirds. Their team shows up every week to protect the coastline we call home, and we are so grateful to collaborate with them.
